The Accidental Blogger
I suppose it's quite obvious at this point I'm not going to be a candidate for 'blog of the year'...nonetheless, I'll still take some time to update on things from time to time.
The biggest consumer of my time over the past 4 months has been a worldwide Lotus Notes email client upgrade that I'm project managing, as well as doing alot of the tech work on. Notes, you ask? Yes...I suppose that's a topic for another blog, but several years ago I fell into a position where part of my job was managing and supporting a Notes and Domino environment - this despite my relatively pure-Microsoft pedigree to that point.
I'm still working for a Domino shop, and as one of the people who knows the most about it, I'm acting as the manager for not only the global Windows team, but the messaging team as well. One significant change that came from this is to move our global Domino server infrastructure from Solaris to Windows 2003 Server. Your welcome, Microsoft.
I'm in Belgium as we speak...after spending two weeks in Manila in November to upgrade Asia, and upgrading North America in December, we're now upgrading Europe and Middle East, with one more week to go to hit our targets and fly home.
It's been fun - not without it's challenges, but a good project overall. I'm happy to say we're on schedule, on budget, and largely without incident as well.
Hmmm, what else is new...ah yes! I finally completed the additional certifications that I had been working on for some time. Last March I finished my RHCE, and then in October I passed my CISSP certification as well. So now I have MCSE, RHCE, and CISSP, as well as formerly having CCNA and MVP. Now that I've pretty much overqualified myself for the vast majority of jobs out there, I think I'd better quit while I'm ahead.
